About 43–60% lower than a litter-only service
Move the sliders to match your property. We estimate how much a worker picks up and price it per verified item; the contract column bills by the hour whether or not litter is removed.
Projected Monthly Cost Comparison (a contract bills about half an hour per acre: 2.0 hours a month)
Items picked up per visit
1 hour a visit. This estimate assumes a worker picks up 500 pieces of litter an hour.
Traditional Cleanup Service
Litter-only service at $35 to $50 an hour, billed whether or not litter is removed
Litter Gig
500 items × 2 visits × 4¢ per verified item
Your Estimated Monthly Savings
$30–$60
We charge your balance only for verified pickups. At 4¢ an item, Litter Gig costs less than a $35-an-hour contract unless a worker would pick up more than 875 pieces in that hour. Prices come from our live settings and can change.
Traditional Service
Billed by the hour
Management inspections, minimum contracts and fuel surcharges are built into the rate, and the bill is the same whether the lot was dirty or clean.
Litter Gig
Billed per verified item
What a visit costs depends on how much litter is picked up, so a lightly littered lot costs less.

From grabber to verified payout
Litter Gig turns litter pickup into verified, paid piece-work. There is no dispatcher and no supervisor: a worker comes to your property during the hours you set, films the session, and our software does the counting, the boundary check and the billing. You pay only for what the video proves was picked up on your property and thrown away.
1. Record hands-free
The worker wears the phone on a chest or grabber mount and films the whole session, with GPS position and accuracy captured as they move.
2. Every pickup is counted
Our verification system lists every piece with the moment it went into the bag. Anything it flags goes to a person at Litter Gig for review.
3. Settlement is code, not trust
Server code places each pickup on the GPS trace, checks it against your boundary and never bills beyond your balance.
4. Paid only after the bags are binned
The worker films every bag going into a bin, and that video is checked on every paid session. No verified disposal, no pay, and nothing is charged to you. Your receipt and the worker's pay are the same list of items.
What a verified session gives you
Every billed session comes with its evidence in your property portal, the moment it is verified.
- Session videoThe whole session, with a signed playback link and a jump to every pickup.
- A map of every pickupThe worker's GPS path over your boundary, with each item placed where it was picked up.
- Start time and durationWhen the session started and how long it ran.
- Items verifiedHow many pieces were found, and how many were billed to you.
- Integrity checksBoundary, movement and disposal checks, with anything flagged spelled out.
- Bags binnedConfirmation that the bags were filmed going into a bin.
- Itemized receiptEvery item with its video time, its billed share and its GPS accuracy, ready to print or save as a PDF.

Receipt
Every bill is backed by video, GPS and a published accuracy record
Your bill and the worker's pay come from the same list of counted items, in the same receipt. We test our counting against litter counted by hand and publish the result.
96%
item-level counting accuracy
112 items counted against 108 counted by hand across 10 test clips, with the same result in 3 repeat runs (October 2026).
9 of 10
test clips counted within tolerance
Tolerance is the margin the human counters recorded for each clip.
Every
paid session has its disposal checked on video
Never a sample. No verified disposal, no pay, and nothing charged to you.
Measured on staged test clips recorded by Litter Gig. We are measuring full-length real sessions during the pilot and will publish those results too.
Why you can trust the count
Paying per item only works if you believe the count. This is how it is kept honest.
Checked against people counting by hand.
We test our counting on clips that people counted by hand, publish the result, and re-run the test before any change to how items are counted ships.
Every pickup is itemized.
Each piece is listed with the moment it went into the bag, and every video time jumps to that moment in the session video.
Placed on the map, graded at your line.
Each pickup is placed on the worker's GPS trace with its accuracy. Items outside your boundary, or recorded with a weak GPS fix, are never billed to you; items near the line are billed in part, and the receipt shows it.
Capped, so a count cannot run away.
Settlement runs on our server, not the phone, and no session can be paid beyond a plausibility cap or past your balance.
The worker keeps a tally too.
Workers can count as they go. When their tally and our count are far apart, the session is flagged for review.
Flagged sessions get a second look.
A session our checks flag, or one you dispute, gets a second, full-detail review, and Litter Gig resolves it.
The list that bills you is the list that pays the worker.
Cheating doesn't pay. Every shortcut meets a control.
Paying per item invites a few obvious shortcuts. Each one below meets a control that runs on every paid session today. Flagged or disputed sessions are reviewed by Litter Gig.
The shortcut
Shortcut: Dumping trash and filming the pickup
How it's stopped
Control: The video check looks for pre-filled bags, indoor work, trash taken back out of the bag and natural debris. Pickups piled tightly together in the first five minutes earn reduced credit, so a staged pile is mostly not billed to you.
The shortcut
Shortcut: Padding or guessing the count
How it's stopped
Control: The count comes from the video, item by item with its video time, never from the worker's phone. Verifier replies are captured server-side, so a session cannot be paid beyond a plausibility cap.
The shortcut
Shortcut: Skipping the bin, or swapping bags
How it's stopped
Control: Every bag must be filmed going into a bin, on every paid session, never a sample. No verified disposal means no pay, and nothing is charged to you.
The shortcut
Shortcut: Working outside your boundary
How it's stopped
Control: A paid session starts only inside your boundary. Each pickup is placed on the GPS trace with its accuracy, and pickups outside your boundary or with a weak GPS fix are never billed to you.
The shortcut
Shortcut: A slow or lazy pass
How it's stopped
Control: You pay per verified item, never for time on site, so a slow pass costs you only for what it actually picked up. Your report shows when the session started and how long it ran.
The shortcut
Shortcut: Repeat offenders and disputed charges
How it's stopped
Control: Two flagged sessions in 30 days freeze a worker's account. Dispute any session in one click: it gets a second, full-detail review, and Litter Gig resolves it with the video and the map.
Your peace of mind is our priority
Litter Gig's work on your property is backed by our insurance, done by workers who have signed our agreements, and kept to the hours and boundary you set.
- Backed by $1,000,000 in general liability coverageOur general liability policy with Evanston Insurance Company, a Markel company, covers the work our contractors do on your property, up to $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate. You are added as an additional insured at no cost, and a certificate of insurance is available on request.
- Signed agreements before any paid workEvery worker signs an independent contractor agreement, a hazard awareness and property release that releases property owners from liability, and an insurance acknowledgement, each with their typed legal name. Paid work is for adults 18 and over.
- Your property, your rulesYou set the hours and the boundary, including landscaper blackout windows. Paid sessions start only inside your boundary during those hours, and you can pause your property at any time.
How we reduce risk on every session
- A five-point safety huddle in the app before paid sessions: be seen, protect hands and feet, never touch litter by hand, watch for traffic, check the conditions.
- Hazard pins: workers never pick up sharps or biohazards. They drop a pin, and recording pauses for everyone within 20 meters until it is cleared.
- GPS-bounded credit: pickups outside your boundary, or recorded with a weak GPS fix, are never billed.
- Disposal verified on video before anyone is paid.
- Disputes get a second, full-detail review, and Litter Gig resolves them.
Require background-checked workers
Choose, property by property, whether workers must pass a background check and at which level. Only workers who currently meet your level can start a paid session there. Checks are run by Checkr and reviewed by Litter Gig, and you see only whether a worker meets your level, never a report. Requiring a level adds 1% to 3% to the per-item price at that property, depending on the level, and the workers who meet it earn more.
Planned: the setting is built into the property portal and opens to owners once Checkr approves our integration.
Background checks are subject to reporting limitations and reflect only the records available when a check runs.
Coverage is subject to the policy's terms, limits and exclusions. Terms apply. Read section 8 of our terms
Paying by the hour versus paying per verified item
Why the same lot costs less when you pay for results instead of time.
Billed by the hour
Litter-only lot service runs $35 to $50 an hour, because management inspections, transport, disposal logistics and dispatch are built into the rate. The bill is the same whether the lot was dirty or clean.
- Paid whether or not litter was removed
- Minimum hours, fuel surcharges and annual contracts
- No record of what was picked up or where
Billed per verified item
You fund a balance; we charge it only for verified pickups on your property, at one all-in price. No dispatcher, no supervisor, no invoice dispute: the receipt lists every item, where it was picked up and the video.
- Pay for results, never more than your balance
- Hours you control, including landscaper blackout windows
- Itemized video receipts and one-click disputes

Questions owners ask
Property ownersWhat does Litter Gig cost?
What does Litter Gig cost?
One all-in price: 4¢ per verified item in Maryland, and only for pickups verified on your property. There is no monthly fee, no contract and no minimum spend. What a visit costs depends on how much litter is picked up, not on time on site: a session that verifies 150 items costs $6.00. New properties get 25% off every verified item, 3¢ instead of 4¢, for their first 30 days when funded with a saved payment method and automatic top-up. Terms apply.
Property ownersWhen am I charged, and can a bad session run up my bill?
When am I charged, and can a bad session run up my bill?
You save a card or U.S. bank account through Stripe without being charged, then fund a balance. When a worker starts a session on your property, part of your balance is reserved for it, and that reserve can grow from your balance, up to a per-session limit, to pay verified pickups. Once the session is verified and its bags are filmed going into a bin, only the verified pickups are charged and the rest is released. On a property that requires a background-check level, that level's premium (1% to 3% of the per-item price, depending on the level) is added to each verified pickup. You are never billed beyond the balance you funded, and automatic top-up refills it at the threshold you choose. Flagged or disputed sessions are reviewed by Litter Gig.
Property ownersHow do I know the count is right?
How do I know the count is right?
Every pickup is itemized with its video time, and our server places each one on the GPS trace with its accuracy radius: items outside your boundary or recorded with a weak fix are never billed to you, and items near the line get partial credit that the receipt shows. Our counting was 96% accurate at the item level for paid sessions, on human-counted test clips, and 9 of 10 test clips were counted within tolerance. Every billed session has signed video playback, and a one-click dispute starts a second, full-detail review that Litter Gig resolves.
Property ownersWho are the workers, and are they insured or background-checked?
Who are the workers, and are they insured or background-checked?
Workers are independent contractors who sign a contractor agreement, a hazard awareness and property release and an insurance acknowledgement with a typed legal-name signature, and paid work is limited to members 18 and over. Litter Gig's work on your property is backed by general liability coverage of up to $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate with Evanston Insurance Company, a Markel company. Property owners are added as additional insureds at no cost, with primary and non-contributory wording and a waiver of subrogation, and a certificate of insurance is available on request. The policy does not cover injuries to the contractors themselves, pollution or cyber incidents, and there is no per-session policy; coverage for worker injuries is planned. Owner-selected background-check levels, run through Checkr and reviewed by Litter Gig, are planned: you will be able to require a level per property, and only workers who meet it can start a paid session there. Owners never see reports. Requiring a level adds 1% to 3% to the per-item price at that property, depending on the level, and the workers who meet it earn more. Background checks are subject to reporting limitations. Your property agreement grants workers a limited license to enter outdoor common areas and includes mutual indemnification. Terms apply.
Property ownersCan I control when workers are on my property?
Can I control when workers are on my property?
Yes. Each property has a schedule: any time, set hours, or daylight only, with landscaper blackout windows so nobody is on site during mowing. You set how many workers can be active at once, and workers must be standing inside your boundary to start a paid session. You can pause a property at any time.
Property ownersCan I get my unused balance back?
Can I get my unused balance back?
Yes. On your property's page, open How Billing Works and choose "Request a refund of unused balance". Litter Gig reviews each request and refunds the unused balance to the original payment method. Card processing fees are not returned. Refunds are handled by Litter Gig; there is no self-service refund.
